CAMP JAMMY-LAND is looking super nice!!

Camp Jammy-Land, a holistically motivated endeavor is truly a pleasure ot organize. the flyer was generated by Kaliptus, who is so super talented and intelligent, that I scarcely know how he find the time to create such dynamic events as well as create a myriad of Animations.

Camp Jammy-Land is in it's 2nd year, and already we are improving everything, "Kicking it up a notch" as Emirel would say. 10 acres of pristine forest land, 10 minutes outside of Rutgers University in Old Bridge NJ. Add some amazing bands, a healthy dose of spirituality, and ART, what do you have, an experience that can and never will be duplicated.

We are searching for People to keep organized and running our "family day events", Including Egg toss, frisbee golf, hackey sack tournament, Badminton Tournament... ETC.

Art Culture and Community Forum 2010: Weds May 19th, 2010

Proactive change is the name of the game.

This year's forum will bring together artists, gallerists and arts administrators to discuss the complex questions of who artists are within the social structure of a community, how can they solidify their standing amongst that community and what methods they've employed to effect change.

After each of the panelists a brief overview of their practices and community involvement, the forum will be open for a moderated discussion with audience members.

The Primary objective of the Art, Culture and Community Forum is to unify the community of cultural producers in Hoboken and help them find their strength and their voice.

Moderator Craig Wallace Dale will lead a panel discussion of artists who have found their voices and created change and opportunity in their community.

Participating Panelists include:

Meredith Lippman:
Program development specialist at Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.

Tara Thurber:
Curator at Paul Vincent Studios and Gallery in Hoboken.

Uta Brauser:
Founder of "Creative Grove Artist Market" and "Fish with Braids" Art Gallery in Jersey City.

Tim Daly:
Artist and community activist

Duda Penteado:
Artist, educator and community activist

Liz Cohen
President of "Hob'art Co-operative Gallery"

Everything is coming up Digable

The flyers have come in and everyone has a game plan relating to the festival. Yesterday a number of flyers were distributed to participating artists and more need to be dolloped out in healthy portions.

My idea is to plan a list of popular Art openings in NYC/BKLN and NJ and set up people to hit up each one with flyers. This way, coverage would be most certain, and I would not be the only one making the rounds to different art galleries.

My primary concern is the JAM 4 ART. We need help raising money to support his event. I even started planning a few house parties in order to raise additional funds to defray the cost of the rental and advertising costs. All I need are peoples houses in which to throw these parties.

MAggie from Sage Productions mad this awesome video Regarding the Digable Arts Festival, and I hope you enjoy it.

Getting Ready

It has been a pleasure to get this art festival off the ground!
Of course if you do not know what I am talking about, it is the DIGABLE ARTS FESTIVAL.
There has been a lot of interest, and it is both exciting and daunting; exciting b/c this is the largest independent arts festival Hoboken has seen in a long time, and daunting for the same reason.  Also, there is alot of work to be done, re: fundraising and preparation.

The space is raw, and primed like a gesso canvas. There are tons of bands, and lots of vendors.
The advertising is what is missing. So far submissions have been satisfactory, but we have until the end of the month. Having worked with artists in the past, the vast majority will submit at the 11th hour. Not a problem. one must plan for these things.

What is Artifications???

Artification’s mandate is to bring culture to Hoboken residents in the form of music, quality art, theatre, dance and performance art. In this wonderful city, there is a stunning shortage of art. Artification works with the Monroe center to bring visibility to Hoboken artists while also inviting quality artists to display their art in Hoboken.

American cities undergoing gentrification unknowingly marginalize artists. Through steep rents and a stifling lack of gallery space, artists are forced to look elsewhere for reasonable work and display spaces. In Hoboken, a city that embodies gentrification, Artification is working to reverse that trend, and bring art back to the Mile Square City.

We need your help to do this.
